Independent Living Options

Individualised living options in NDIS

A new type of accommodation funding and practice for the NDIS, Individual Living Options (ILO) is based around supporting participants with daily living and housing of their choosing. ILO is typically for people who are more independent in their life.

There are many different variations for ILO, meaning that it is more flexible to suit your needs inside the home. Help with making decisions like where you want to live and what supports you need to make that happen – Personal care including help to shop, cook, or pay bills; help to set up and manage your own home; building and maintaining connection with others; and support to manage your emotions or behaviour.

What your ILO might look like:

MENTORS – a small team of paid supports exclusive to you who spend extended periods of time providing direct and indirect support. These are trained professionals who help you in taking care of all your daily needs.

ARRANGEMENT – you live full time with a person or family (host), who is not related to you. The Host provides a safe and welcoming home and the help you need

HOUSEMATES/CO-RESIDENT – you live full time with people who provide care, help and companionship.
